Giving to the Department of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy has three different funds available to receive gifts. Descriptions are provided below of each fund. Donating to any of these is a wonderful way of contributing to the research and teaching missions of both the Department of Philosophy and UNM as a whole. We wholeheartedly appreciate any support you may wish to give.

Department of Philosophy Fund

This general fund is used by the Department Chair to support the research and professional development activities of both faculty and graduate students. Money from this account goes toward Department members’ publishing scholarship and traveling to conferences.

Brian O'Neil Memorial Lectureship in Philosophy

This annual lecture series was created in honor of the late Professor Brian O’Neil (see here). The O’Neil fund enables the Department to host lectures each year by a prominent contemporary philosopher. This important annual event brings together people from UNM and the wider New Mexico community.

The Paul F. Schmidt Fund in Philosophy

Honoring the late Professor Paul F. Schmidt, this fund helps supports the scholarly and intellectual community-building endeavors of the Department of Philosophy. It is utilized for Department members’ research and travel, as well as for hosting philosophy-related events at UNM.
